Well, it's a *little* early but we had out first killing frost this morning thumbsupsmileyanim.gif Got up at 0400 this a.m., went outside for a smoke (dont' smoke in the house, never have, never will, can't STAND the smell of smoke inside buildings YECK!) anyways, thought "Dam, it's COOL!" Went back in, looked at the thermo, said 34°, went back out at 0530 again, just enough daylight to make the lawn appear like it had a slight dusting of snow but alas, twas only the FIRST frost of the season. Went to work for a few hours, came home, conducted a walk through of the veggie gardens, GONE....squash, cukes, peppers, gords, ALL biffed it, pitch black leaves...the tomatoes faired well however, but everything else, gone for the season *sigh*...I love Autumn but I hates to see the veggies die thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Hey Dennis - it's the middle of September and you don't have to worry about frost...
...you'd better start worrying about the First Snowstorm. One usually hits in late
Sept or early October. On the way to the Balloon Festival in Albaturkey one year
and got stuck in Pinetop with a few feet of snow. Think that was '94.
A good vegetable (well, fruit) this time of year is the lime...inside a Marg. smile.gif

Had a solid freeze over a week ago here.

I heard that places in Colorado have gotten some accumulating snow already. My one friend in Laramie had sleet mixing in last week with rain as well. A sure sign of the times!

Last week you should have seen the radar out of Colorado - it was all pink from
north to south - the whole range got blasted. It's that time of year...elk are out
en masse in Rocky Mountain National Park and the first storms are hitting. Nice time to be
up there. September was cool in RMNP with all the animals running around and
the trees red & gold. Beautiful.

Indeed!

But down here below 7,000' in N. Cent. CO, no frost yet and the gourds, cukes and zukes are all still going crazy.

Been in the mid 40s overnight, ideal for stoking up the fireplace and hitting up on err, snuggling with the wife.
