Yeah, PNS reports have about 6-12" across portions of the OK and TX panhandles. However, northern NM had widespread 12-24" amounts across the high plains and even the i-25 corridor. Quite an impressive late season storm. That was unable to make it out my way though...41 and rain, but what can you do?

Yeah, I noticed. Amazing season they are having out there. There must be a pretty good screw zone around pueblo or colorado springs, where everything this year has gone just south. You can just feel how much 90% of this board cares.

I see Amarillo has around 8-10" so far, in the last 12 hours. Lubbock getting snow, but I can't find much for accumulation so far. Snow all the way down to Hobbs, New Mexico. They average like 5" a year though, even though the avg highs this time of year should be in the upper 60s.

snow across the high Plains, even that far south, is not all that uncommon during March. Especially considering the suppressed flow regime we are currently experiencing. Some of these places are 3000-4000 feet plus in elevation. If you can drive a potent trof that far south in March, things can get ugly. However, you'll be surprised how fast that melts when the trof swings through and that march sun goes to work on it lol

They recorded over 25" for the season through yesterday at Amarillo. I guess they'll be passing Philly.

Actually they average something like DC, with 15.6" a year.

I remember that Flagstaff usually gets it's best snows in November/March. Seems Colorado is the same way, so I assume New Mexico is as well? Makes sense, although Flagstaff seems to get nailed with a trough digging into Socal/SW Ariz, versus this easterly/upslope flow stuff. Although, they did get it yesterday.

i posted this earlier, but it fits right in with this thread

the weather in amarillo tx almost reminds me of denver co. It is usually warm there, and snow can fall in Amarillo in spring and fall. However amarillo gets much less snow than denver on avg. Amarillo tx had a pretty large snow storm on election day if i remember correctly (2004)

Yeah, further west it is somewhat different than across the high Plains. Big factor to keeping temps cold enough for snow is the upslope. They do seem to get an anamolous amount of snow during Mar/Nov.
