Here are some pictures of the first snow "event" here in Hardy County WV.
Nice to start the season snow signature in October:thumbsup:
Just back in from a hike, still have not broken 40 since Thursday evening.

Nice, I know you were "snow-starving" Duane, congrats!

Excellent photo Mike. Thanks for posting it. I saw that Star Tannery, Va, probably the same elev as you near the VA/WVA line had a niced coating as well.
Is this your earliest snowfall? and if not what was your earliest out there.

Thanks! I'm at 1500 feet (1497 to be exact!), this is the earliest "coating" that I can recall in my time out here, transplanted from the MD suburbs in 2002.

The Dolly Sods camera is a bit of a misnomer. Its actually located on top of Canaan Mountain in Canaan Heights (3 miles southeast of the Town of Davis). I guess they call it the Dolly Sods camera because on a clear day you can see all the way across Canaan Valley to Dolly Sods.

Just cloudy here all day with some spits of snow. The snow is beautiful and its getting me in the mood for winter.

Conrats to you as well Mike, fun to get the early tease. Remembering late Oct 05 snowed here and surprise squall last November turned out to be the most exciting winter had to offer.

I can actually see Dolly Sods from part of the land here. Looked nice peaking through the fog.

Whoops missed these. Nice photos Nut. Whats the elevation of your place there? congrats on the snows too

My property here runs from 1650' up to 2000' Cabin is 1750 at grade level. South Branch in my last picture runs up to 3023' above me.

So is your place off Rt 55 in Star Tannery?

No low max record today for DCA but back to back days was impressive, it's only happened one other time in October since records have been kept and that was back in 1891. Also, just missed doing it on Thursday by 1 degree.

Hopefully Trixie won't yell at me for being in the wrong thread but I'm outside of BOS and it is rippin snow. The ground is covered and the radar looks awesome. Getting dark now and the streets are even getting snow on them.

Haha!!!! I was watching the sky earlier this afternoon while it was raining and you could see snow just off the deck. At that point I didn't think it would turn to snow at the surface. Then the next time I went out it had turned to snow. Still snowing now and the ground is solidly covered. What a wonderful surprise today!!!! Even had a snowball fight with my nieces:-)

I took some video and pics on my phone, but don't have my adapter with me. I will post some 2mrw when i get home.
