I'm enroute to Dulles and I can see the pink sunset behind the cloud edge.

This really has nothing to do with the weather, but I wanted to mention to those that live in Montgomery County that County Council member Praisner passed this afternoon from complications with heart surgery. She was 66.

On a seperate and unrelated note, I have had several requests for the link to the county alert system. Here it is. Alert Montgomery

We're at the high of the day (Other than the midnight high) of 33.2.
About a quarter of an inch of ice... 4 power lines downed within the town alone. (half of the lines are buried-lol)
But power has been restored and there are no reported outages within the county, but trees are rather droopy.
The anemometer on the Luray station got frozen, but i haven't noticed any big gusts.

Wettest February day in DC since PD II in 2003.
Last four years at DCA have had low totals for the month of Feb that were nearly equalled or exceeded today.
2/07- 2.22"
2/06- 2.46"
2/05- 1.63"
2/04- 2.28"

wind picked up here, blew the ice off the trees at the same time the sun was setting. It was quite a site. The Sun shining threw the ice created a heavenly effect..anyway,s pretty cool day weather wise, so when is our next winter threat i can look forward to? next winter?

I'd love to report the total precip, but my VP2 and "old fashioned" rain gauge are frozen over.......guessing around .75ish? Anywhooo, finally made it up to 33 at 6pm, ran out and took a few pics around 5pm or so.
We've all seen a tree limb

Cool ice formation, appears ice formed "upward", merely the ice dripped down and weighed enough until the branch bent over at the trunk which inverted the limb to give this appearance.

Thought I might get a peek at the sun, just ended up with a view over the Shenandoah Valley, low clouds and the Alleghenies further to my west.

Temps are about to drop below freezing across MoCo west and northwest of the beltway.

I guess temperature forecasts for the Shen. Valley were a bust. (40's) Winchester stayed in 32-34 range. Right now water is refreezing on roads and cars.

Finally got out to my Cabin this morning. Here are some shots from my walk with Kodiak my new puppy.

Looks like to day is melt down day.

Anyone take a guess at the rain total in the Davis VP2 cup? I am guessing .75 ? seems we are always in the storm dry slots.

Attached File(s)
